Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Date : 2016 - 2017

District 8 Councilmember Dan Gilman tasked Studio for Spatial Practice to conduct a public realm study in 4 business districts in his constituency: Walnut St., Ellsworth Ave, S. Highland Ave., and S. Craig St. The study centered around streetscape improvements, with a focus on improving and increasing the street life for commercial activity & pedestrian safety. The study was conducted with the major stakeholders of each street. Through a series of workshops & presentations, the final recommendations were informed by and customized by the property & business owners, creating street-specific yet neighborhood-consistent elements & amenities.
